The 12th annual CIBER Business Language Conference will be held in historic Houston Hall at the University of Pennsylvania on March 24-26, 2010. This year we focus on the notion of “global literacies” to gather perspectives on language teaching and learning in professional contexts from a broad spectrum of academic disciplines. The conference is hosted by the Penn Lauder CIBER and has been planned in collaboration with the Penn Language Center. The theme of the 2010 conference is “Global Literacies: Integrated Approaches to Cross-cultural Training.”
The group of U.S. business schools that are recipients of federal funding through the U.S. Department of Education’s Center for International Business Education & Research (CIBER) program have hosted this conference annually since 1999. The genesis of the conference dates back to the 1981 Eastern Michigan University Conference on Language and Communication for World Business and the Professions; EMU hosted the annual conference through 1997. The CIBER Business Language Conference now attracts over 200 participants annually.
